Bacteriostatic Water 3mL is sterile laboratory-grade water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is a general laboratory supply, supplied as a clear, colourless liquid in a sealed 3 mL vial. The benzyl alcohol preservative inhibits microbial growth, so a sealed vial remains usable for approximately 28 days after first access. The 3 mL vial is the smaller of the two formats we stock.

Bacteriostatic water vs sterile water+
Sterile water contains no preservative and must be discarded after a single use. Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth and makes the vial multi-use for roughly 28 days after first access.
Storage & Shelf Life+
Store at room temperature (15–25°C), away from direct light. Use within 28 days once opened. Handle in a clean laboratory environment and discard any vial whose seal integrity is in doubt.
